JUNIOR TEAMS

Geelong Rangers currently fields junior teams in a wide range of age groups in Geelong region competitions and has recently released a 3-5 year Junior Plan to create a pathway for our young Rangers into the West Metro Melbourne competition. If you would like a copy of the plan, email GeelongRangersfc @gmail.com

In 2023 the age groups will be – U12, U13, U14, U16, & U18 Boys and U12, U13, U15 Girls. 

Note: depending on interest from players there may be none, one or more than one team in each age group. This will be determined when registrations commence.

miniroos (geelong region)

MiniRoos Club Football is a smaller version of football that provides boys and girls aged 5 – 11 with a fun introduction to the world game. family meal nights

Our Family Meal Nights are a highlight of the week, with our dedicated group of volunteers serving affordable evening meals for players and families in the clubrooms after training. It’s a great way for parents and kids to get to know each other and have a bit of fun off the field.

Family Meal Nights will be offered on Wednesday and Thursday from 5.30pm

Faqs

How much does it cost to play?

The costs for a child to play include Player Registration, including club membership (payable for first family member only).  Registration cost includes your shirt, shorts and socks for the season. For current registration costs, see Memberships.

Additional costs may apply for optional coaching clinics, representative teams, carnivals and social events.

​What uniform is required?

Team jerseys are provided by the club and can be kept by the players at the end of the season. All players are required to wear the official club shorts and socks, which are included in the cost of your registration. Players must provide their own regulation soccer boots and shin guards (compulsory).

Which age group is my child eligible for?

A child’s age is determined by the year they were born. For example, if your child is 6 years of age on the 31st December 2021 and turning 7 during 2022, they are eligible to play in the U7s group in 2022.

Note that Juniors in the 12-18 years age groups may be approved to play at a higher level subject to the coaches recommendation following an assessment. For more information, refer to the Players Policy in the Geelong Rangers Handbook

​Where are the matches played?

Matches are played at various club grounds in the Geelong region. Parents are responsible for arranging transport for their child to and from matches.

  • Miniroos play at clubs across the Geelong region, including the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula
  • Juniors play at clubs across the Geelong Region, including the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula

Are the coaches qualified?

Our club adheres to the Football Australia (FA) National Football Curriculum – a guaranteed approach for developing quality players. Our commitment is to ensure all coaches are qualified to the required level to ensure that the curriculum is delivered effectively and consistently across all teams and all age levels.

All our Junior coaches are required to have a current Working with Children Checks

What if my child has a medical problem?

Parents of Junior players under the age of 18 years must sign a medical consent form for their child , authorising the Club to provide medical assistance or treatment if required in the event of injury, accident or illness. The medical consent form is completed and accepted during the online registration process. For further details of our Medical Policy and Consent, see Policies & Codes.

If your child experiences a temporary or ongoing medical problem that was not included on their form at registration, please advise the Head Coach or Coordinator for your team.
